At Friends School, we are preparing our students to thrive in a future that we ourselves cannot fully imagine. Friends Connects takes into account the evolving local and global challenges and opportunities our students will face, and the need to offer these future generations of students an experience that includes, but goes far beyond, college preparation. Our aim is life preparation; nurturing young people who are self-aware, emotionally intelligent, intellectually engaged, socially conscious, and who interact with others – locally and globally – in meaningful and transformative ways.

Through our Strategic Direction, Friends Connects, we will provide our students with powerful educational experiences rooted in building relationships. Their learning will be enriched by their interactions on the individual, classroom, community, national, and global levels. The outcomes will be stronger minds, stronger hearts, and stronger communities.

Friends Connects focuses on four goals.

  1. Friends Connects students and teachers. We will provide our students with a personalized and transformative education alongside a talented and diverse group of educators.
  2. Friends Connects families and alumni. By deepening relationships with graduates, as well as with parents, grandparents, and the other important adults in our students’ lives, we will strengthen our community now and in the future.
  3. Friends Connects with Baltimore. We will strengthen our partnerships with the people and communities of Baltimore, together embracing the work of creating a more just and equitable future.
  4. Friends Connects with the world. Through their study of and connections to diverse global communities, our students will develop the skills and understanding needed to thrive in a global society.
